B.Des Fashion Design – Program Overview
Step into our studio intensive universe. This is a high-voltage, immersive experience where imagination converges to precision and passion meets performance.
We totally understand that glamour without strategy will never survive in this competitive world, so our B.Des Fashion design course is structured to let your artistry combine with your ambition. Here, you’re gonna learn that fashion is equal parts creativity, razor-sharp business instinct, and crushing deadlines, and turn into a master craftsman.
And here’s where we raise the stakes: Entrepreneurship is deeply embedded in our program, where you will understand supply chains for positioning a luxury brand. You will get to create your own design label and learn about sourcing, digital selling, costing, and branding.
Imagine humming industry swing machines, cutting tables layered with fabrics, draping experiments at midnight; yes! You will be part of all this now and always. This isn’t just about drawing some pretty sketches; it’s about fabricating ideas into tangible, runway-ready realities.
B. Des Fashion Design degree course is a 4-year creative odyssey that is bold and comprehensive. The real showstopper here is your PORTFOLIO. In the fashion world, your work speaks louder than words, so across the four years that you will spend here, you will build an industry-ready and powerful body of work. From fashion shows and curated exhibitions to action-oriented internships, we ensure your creative identity commands the attention it deserves.
This program is your runway to relevance. Our B.Des Fashion design curriculum covers pattern-making, textile science, fashion history, sustainability, draping, merchandising, fashion CAD, and innovation. You will learn to decode trends, engineer garments, and sculpt silhouettes that move with purpose.
About the B. Des Fashion Design Program
Gone are the days when fashion was limited only to runways. It now dwells on digital platforms, sustainability, technology, and global ecommerce. Our B. Des Fashion Design degree course is all about creating your own trends. This isn’t about theory, it’s about how the GLOBAL LUXURY MARKET operates.
At DIA, fashion is amplified through global corridors and powerful industry alliances. This course is not about following a style. It’s about questioning, reshaping, and finally evaluating it. We will prepare you to operate at the intersection where creativity meets commerce and aesthetics meet analytics.
At DIA, learning unfolds by activating both intellect and instinct because here you conceptualise LUXURY BRAND BLUEPRINTS. This is only possible when we create a series of interconnected studios with labs that push you to think beyond flat sketches. Every project will inspire you to think like a designer and operate like a founder.
Here’s what you will learn
To build mastery over silhouette creation and dynamic drape –
Students will learn to sculpt the garments as living forms. That means understanding structure, gravity, proportion, and the drape’s transformative power in motion
To build sensitivity toward identity, culture, movement, and emotion – Learn fashion as a language. Understand the heritage, performance, psychology, gender, and personal narrative.
To train students to design for performance, stage, and camera – Explore costume as storytelling. Learn to fashion looks that enhance in light, lenses that create dramatic expressions.
To strengthen stylistic articulation across media formats –
Understand the intricacies involved in translating your vision seamlessly across live presentations, videos, and photography.
To build body fluency through drawing, draping, and form engineering – The human body is your canvas and collaborator, both. Get the ability to study it through structure, gesture, and technical precision.
The very first year at our B. Des. Fashion Design, you will get to taste multi-disciplinary subjects that will help you to work on your intellectual and creative groundwork needed for a specialised fashion study.
Here you will get to:
- Explore fashion that goes beyond a product
- Understand form, aesthetics, context, and structure
- Develop skills like critical inquiry, observation, and experimentation
- Develop sensitivity toward craft traditions, human behaviour, and visual storytelling
The course will make you future-ready, not just as beginners, but also by ensuring you become creative thinkers with interdisciplinary depth.
B. Des Fashion Design curriculum is created to help you become a thinker, researcher, storyteller, digital creator, and entrepreneur. Structured around nine powerful pillars, our course strengthens a different dimension of your creative identity. When you graduate, we will ensure that you become industry-relevant, not just industry-ready.
B. Des Fashion Design curriculum is created to help you become a thinker, researcher, storyteller, digital creator, and entrepreneur.
PILLAR 1 Concept and narrative design
For any unique fashion idea, you need a unique, creative mind. DIA’s fashion design degree course treats concepts as seriously as couture. This pillar focuses on thinking before you design. Here, you will learn to create clear brand identities, build stories, and design collections that have meaning and perception. You will also develop the confidence to present and sell your concepts through AI-assisted forecasting, concept-driven draping, and fashion films.
PILLAR 2 Body, identity, and movement
This pillar helps you understand concepts of silhouette, drape, proportion, and movement in a deeper, more practical way. Through advanced patternmaking, theatre costume, illustrations, performance studies, pattern making, and cinematic styling, you will learn how garments behave in motion.
PILLAR 3 Material and textile innovation
Every fabric has a story to tell. Explore and understand the textiles from fibre to finish. Here, you can experiment with sustainable fabrics, new technologies, and smart textiles while rooted in your design traditions. We offer material innovation workshops, craft visits, and digital simulations to help you learn to combine future technology with your heritage.
PILLAR 4 Theatre, performance, and costume futures
This pillar is all about preparing you for the bigger picture, because when fashion transforms, it performs. Here, you will study character psychology, movement-based garments, costume direction, quick-change engineering, and lighting design. We will prepare you for the OTT, film styling, live performance, and theatre industries.
PILLAR 5 Global * Indian Fashion cultures
You need to deeply understand people and cultures, and that’s the key to great design. This pillar of our B. Des Fashion design syllabus helps you to understand cultural literacy by studying global fashion capitals, luxury systems, anthropology, and Indian craft traditions.
PILLAR 6 Fashion Research & Historiography
To become a great designer, you need to do deep research. This pillar focuses on training you in documentation, academic writing, fieldwork, archival studies, and trend analysis. We will make sure that research becomes your creative strength.
PILLAR 7 Periodical narratives and silhouette evolution
We all know fashion has evolved with time, and that’s what you will learn here. Here, you can experiment by reinterpreting heritage for modern design, study historical timelines, and reconstruct garments. You will have the opportunity to understand how silhouettes shift across eras, from ancient India to Paris couture to contemporary runway movements.
PILLAR 8 Digital Fashion and process systems
Learn the future of fashion with CAD, CLO3D, AI tools, digital lookbook development, virtual sampling, and techpack creation. In this pillar of our B. Des Fashion Designing course, you will become future fashion industry-ready and fluent in global digital systems.
PILLAR 9 Sustainability and circular luxury
Luxury today is all about responsibility. Under this pillar, you will learn zero-waste pattern cutting, ethical sourcing, lifecycle thinking, biomaterials, and circular design. You will create garments that last, repair, and regenerate.
